Their teams were unable to claim state titles again. That didn't keep Tarkeisha Wysinger of Many or Keith Williams of Madison from claiming top individual honors.

Wysinger and Williams netted Outstanding Player honors on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Class 2A All-State basketball teams for the second straight year.

The 6-foot-1 Williams is a senior who led Madison to a runner-up finish in Class 2A by posting averages of 27.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.

Wysinger (5-9) also led Many to a runner-up finish and a 33-5 record with averages of 27.8 points, 12.4 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 4.2 assists per contest. She won the LSWA's 2A Outstanding Player honor for the third straight year.

Madison's Mitchell Riggs was voted the Coach of the Year for the boys squad, while Travis Bourgeois of Episcopal-Baton Rouge was selected as the girls Coach of the Year.

Riggs, completing his 39th season in coach, led a team to the Top 28 state tournament for the 13th time. Rigg's Jaguars finished 34-8.

Bourgeois coached Episcopal to a 29-8 record that included a three-point loss to eventual state champion Iota in the semifinals.

It is the second LSWA honor in five years for Bourgeois, who was voted the 2A Coach of the Year for football in 2002.

Twins Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett of Iota join Wysinger on the girls first team. Caitlyn Baggett averaged 18.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 4.7 steals, while Ashlyn Baggett post averages of 18.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 4.5 steals, leading Iota to a perfect 43-0 record.

Taylor Mims of Episcopal (14 points per game, 5.0 assists) and Brietta Thomas of University (19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 steals) complete the girls first team.

Donald Qualls of Jonesboro-Hodge (28 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 steals), Javon Freeman of Ville Platte (21 points, 6.0, assists, 4.5 rebounds), Charles Winborne of Loyola Prep (23.8 points, 56.6 field goal percentage) and Raymone Andrew of state champion St. Thomas Aquinas (12.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists) round out the boys first team.

The girls second team consists of St. Helena Central's Ashley Byrd, Danielle Jones of Episcopal, Brittney Johnson of University, Kristi Bellock of John Curtis and Amanda Perkins of St. Martin's Episcopal. Andrew Loupe of Episcopal, Darren Cooper of Madison, Chris Lewis of Jonesboro-Hodge, Craig Duronslet of St. James and Cory Jones of Lake Arthur make up the boys second team.
